Fostering a child is a decision that will transform your life. If you’re prepared to start the foster care journey, you’ll have the help and advice of a Foster Care Case Practitioner during the whole process – from applying, training, assessing, matching the right child with your family, and more. Whatever difficulties or happiness you encounter, our Gold Coast team will support you and the child in your care with compassion, creativity, commitment and bravery.
If you’re interested in becoming a foster or kinship carer, you can attend our regular information sessions on the Gold Coast. These sessions will help you learn from our experienced intake team about the process and benefits of being a foster parent, and address any questions you may have.
We honour the cultural identity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their right to remain connected to their community. When this is not feasible, our Gold Coast-based cultural support workers assist non-indigenous foster carers and staff to understand the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander foster children in care, and to support them in a holistic way that respects their family, spiritual beliefs, community and personal needs. The team also encourages young people to build a strong sense of identity through activities that acknowledge their culture.
