You Be You has supported thousands of Sunshine Coast locals
to become amazing foster and kinship carers.
Choosing to become a foster carer could be the most rewarding thing you do. Across Queensland, many children and young people urgently need the help and support of loving foster carers, whether that’s for a few weeks, months or the rest of their childhood.
Supported by Anglicare Southern Queensland, You Be You is a foster and kinship care service that finds and supports people on the Sunshine Coast to provide a safe and loving home to children in need. No matter who you are or where you come from, whether you are single, married, young, old, LGBTQIA+, have other children or none at all, you can be a foster or kinship carer with You Be You. All you need is a passion to make a positive difference in the life of a child or young person.
You Be You cares about the cultural identity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people, and equips non-Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander carers with the resources and information to meet their needs. We provide flexible care options, ongoing support and training, and a community for its carers. We’re always looking for more foster carers, so contact us today to find out more about how you can join our foster care community and make a difference in a child's life.

Fostering a child or young person is a long-term decision that will not only transform a young person’s life, but your life as well. If you’re prepared to start the foster care journey, you’ll have the help and advice of a Foster Care Case Practitioner during the whole process – from applying, training, assessing, matching the right child with your family and more. Whatever difficulties or happiness you encounter, our Sunshine Coast team will support you and the child in your care with compassion, creativity, commitment and bravery.
If you’re interested in becoming a foster or kinship carer, you can attend our regular information sessions on the Sunshine Coast. These sessions will help you learn from our experienced intake team about the process and benefits of being a foster parent and address any questions you may have.
Our foster care services honour the cultural identity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their right to remain connected to their community. When this is not feasible, our Sunshine Coast-based cultural support workers assist non-indigenous foster carers and staff to understand the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander foster children in care, and support them in a holistic way that respects their family, spiritual, community and personal needs. The team also encourages young people in the foster care system to build a strong sense of identity through activities that acknowledge their culture.
